Commissioning

If you are interested in commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture, whether it be as small as a jewellery box or as large as a dining table and chairs, we will have an informal chat about the proposed piece, discussing dimensions, materials and any other specific requirements.  You will likely have ideas for what you want but may wish to leave the design entirely up to me.

The cost of the project is discussed early on in the process and this initial quote will not dramatically vary, unless there is a significant change in design or use of materials.  The timescale will depend on the piece being commissioned but more importantly my current order book.

The design process can begin, consisting of sketches, models, CAD drawings and sometimes full scale prototypes.  Once the design and materials are finalised and before any work can begin, a deposit will be required, with the balance being paid on delivery.

During the making process, you are welcome to visit the workshop, to look at the timber being used and to see the work in progress, for a very enjoyable experience of commissioning that “one-off” piece.
